1. Purpose of the System

The Highlands Forward Safety Reporting system is provided by Highlands Community Charter & Technical School to allow staff to document incidents, accidents, and related supplemental information for internal safety, recordkeeping, and follow-up purposes.

2. Authorized and Appropriate Use

This system is intended for use by authorized Highlands Community Charter & Technical School staff and personnel in the course of their duties. Reports should be submitted promptly and in good faith, describing observable facts relevant to the incident.

3. Accuracy and Completeness of Submitted Information

By submitting a report, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge at the time of submission. Reports form part of Highlands Community Charter & Technical School's official safety records, and their reliability supports appropriate follow-up.

Incident reports may contain sensitive information about students, staff, or other individuals. Users are expected to handle report content responsibly and to discuss report details only with those who have a legitimate need to know, consistent with Highlands Community Charter & Technical School policy.

6. No Emergency-Service Replacement

This system is a records and follow-up tool. It is not monitored in real time and must never be used in place of calling 911 or otherwise contacting emergency services for an active or urgent threat to health or safety.

7. Availability and System Changes

Highlands Forward may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue this system, or any part of it, at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the system.

8. Intellectual Property and System Ownership

The system, its design, and its underlying software are owned by or licensed to Highlands Community Charter & Technical School. Submitted report content remains subject to school recordkeeping and data policies. Users do not acquire any ownership interest in the system itself by using it.

9. User Responsibility

Users are responsible for the accuracy of the information they submit and for maintaining the confidentiality of any access credentials associated with related school systems. Users should promptly report any suspected misuse or technical issue to school administration.

10. Disclaimers

The system is provided on an "as available" basis. Highlands Community Charter & Technical School makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the system's uninterrupted operation, freedom from errors, or fitness for a particular purpose beyond its stated function as an internal reporting tool.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Highlands Community Charter & Technical School is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential issues arising from use of, or inability to use, this system. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any right or protection that cannot be limited under applicable law.

13. Governing Policies and Law

Use of this system is also governed by applicable Highlands Community Charter & Technical School policies and procedures and by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive any legal right of a user or reporter merely because a report was submitted, nor does submitting a report constitute a waiver of any legal right.

These Terms describe the intended use of this system as currently implemented. This page has not been reviewed by Highlands Community Charter & Technical School legal counsel; school leadership should review and approve this content before it is treated as final policy.
